Holi or Phagwah is a popular spring festival. Holi commemorates the slaying of the demoness Holika by Lord Vishnu’s devotee Prahlad. Thus, the festival’s name is derived from the Sanskrit words “Holika Dahanam”, which literally mean “Holika’s slaying” the hindu community of sakhari bazar of old dhaka city arrange this colorful events by spraying paints to each other every year as a spring festival where multi cultural people from home and abroad attain with them . its a heritagious traditional festival of the community at sakhari bazar during the birth of dhaka city in 1608 by mughal rullers .
